Winemaking is one of Moldova's oldest industries. Kilometres of underground galleries keep wine collections at a constant temperature, and some have become tourist attractions.

Fetească Albă, Fetească Neagră, Rara Neagră and Viorica are the varieties local producers use to stand out abroad, while protected geographical indications help buyers recognise origin.

International competitions and trade fairs remain the main showcase for small wineries seeking importers.
